Description

The Florence Iron Bed is our unique new design reimagined from a classic style of the 19th Century. As usual with Nights in Iron beds, we have worked the design to create a bed with our renowned strength and stability. Made with solid bar the uprights have been hand forged to wrap beautifully around the horizontals with a double curl.

Footboard Options

All of our beds can have the standard, high 'Matching Footboard' replaced with the Low End option. This simply bolts to the bed base frame to replace the standard footboard. Sometimes good if you like the foot end to be unrestricted, you like to be able to sit on the end of the bed or you just prefer the visual 'no footboard' look in your room.

Our Universal Low End replaces the 'Matching Footboard' of whichever bed you choose.

Bed Base Options

We are often asked what's the difference between the two base options. In reality it's just about personal preference - some people just prefer one kind over the other. Does it make any difference to firmness? With a good quality mattress, not really. We put almost twice as many slats into a base as other manufacturers, creating a firm, even support. If you are feeling the base through your existing mattress on your current bed it's time to replace the mattress. Check out our mattress range and also our Combi Deal.

Slatted Base


Our wide laminated beech sprung slats are closely fixed at 1" spacings and provide excellent mattress support.

The steel supporting framework provides a very strong structural unit which actually bolts directly to both bed ends. A central steel box section running the entire length of the bed base carries the middle slat fixings. Each half of the bed base is independently supported and prevents movement transfer from one side of the bed to the other.

Solid Upholstered Base


Our solid upholstered platform bases 2″ deep and form a top quality mattress support for all mattress types.

They fit snuggly into the bed's strong steel base frame which bolts directly to both bed ends. The divan bases are constructed with a strong, 2" deep timber frame, topped with a panel, then fully upholstered with a natural cotton covering. This base forms a good, proven, flat supportive structure for the mattress. Supplied in two halves, nice and easy to assemble. We find them much easier than the slatted bases to move and re-assemble in another room or house at any future time.
